Enrolling Your Child To keep families informed and to keep children safe, we need to ensure that each child is registered in our Religious Education program. This just requires a form to be completed and returned to either the class teacher or the church office. The information is kept very confidential. Forms are mailed out to families who are already in our database. New families may complete this form or get a copy at church in the first few weeks of classes in the fall. If you are new to the church and your children are coming to Sunday school on a regular basis, we encourage you to attend an Orientation Toward Membership Workshop and consider becoming a member of our community. Volunteer Teachers The help needed ranges from teaching lessons to assisting with activities to communicating with families regarding each week’s lesson. You may volunteer occasionally or as part of a regular commitment. Each class has a coordinator who organizes volunteers. The name and contact information for the coordinator for your child’s class should be posted on the class bulletin board. How to get involved Talk with any teacher or board member or respond to teacher recruitment in the spring Visitors are encouraged to come to church on Sunday morning for the Family Worship Service starting at 9:45. At that time we will help you find the right classroom for your child, give you registration forms, and orient your family to our Religious Education Program. Monthly Orientation Connie Grant and the Religious Education. board will present a brief orientation to our program on the first Sunday of the month at 10 a.m. This is an excellent way for parents to become acquainted with the language of religious education, where the classes are held and when, and an overview of curriculum. Please call the office for more information. Program Administration UCE’s Religious Education Program is led by Rev. Connie Grant, Minister for Lifespan REligious Education, and the many volunteers needed to ensure its success. The UCE office staff helps with all mailing and copying for the RE program. Call or email ahead of time for help. The RE Board is an elected nine-member board of church members dedicated to developing, improving and implementing the overall program (see back page for current members). The Board meets monthly, and each member is actively engaged in supporting the program. Everyone is invited to Board meetings to provide feedback or listen. They are generally on the 2 nd Monday of each month starting at 7:15 p.m. Unitarian Church of Evanston
